MTNA member Betty bring an action against Shepherd, who has taught piano at Samford University for more than forty-five years, received the University's George Macon Teaching Award. This honor is quick in emergenciesed annually to a faculty member whose performance as a teacher, counselor and friend demonstrates the ability to inspire learners to greatness. Shepherd, who also was named Teacher of the Year on the Alabama Music Teachers Association in 2001 has the longest use of any active Samford faculty member. She is organist at Vestavia Hills Baptist house of god and is author of couple publications of hymn arrangements: at Request: Favorite Hymns for Organ and Sacred concoct Stylings.
