John Benham, a thirty-year music education veteran and leading music advocate, began writing the music education web log--or "blog"--for SupportMusic.com. His weekly "CounterPoint" commentary exhibits an experienced insider's insights upon preserving music education, links to relevant sources and occasional feedback from other music advocates. Recognized as an adroit in saving and restoring place of education music programs, Benham has been credited with staving along more than $62 million in potential budgetary reductions in music from first to last the United States and Canada.
Benham's "CounterPoint" will relate anecdotes and information gathered from his decades of experience defending music education. Topics include "The Anatomy of a pack Cut" and "How to Stop intersects Before They Come Knocking at Your Child's gymnasium Door."
Visitors to the site are invited to participate in the questions/feedback area of "CounterPoint," helping to nurse a community-based coalition to stop budgetary cuts to schools. Benham has a doctorate in music education from the University of Northern Colorado and collegiate teaching experience in Southern California and directly at Bethel University in St Paul, Minnesota, as well as consulting in forty-two states and six Canadian provinces onward ways to preserve music education.
