Jie Chen, 18 and Wenbin Jin, 16 one as well as the other of China, are the first-prize winners of the 10th Missouri Southern International Piano Competition. Chen participated in the senior division, and Jin participated in the junior division.
The competition was held in Joplin, Missouri, with thirty-seven pianists from fifteen countries participating.
Other winners of the senior division include the following: Sandro Russo, 28 Italy, third prize; and Yevgeniy Milyavskiy, 19 United States; Ruzha Semova, 27 Bulgaria; and Huihsin Tseng 30 Taiwan, each earning honorable mentions, respectively.
Other junior division winners include the following: Chenyang Xu 16 China, next to the first prize; Si-chen Ma, 17, China, third prize; and Soo Yeon Cho 17 Korea, and Matthew Graybil, 16 United States, who each received an honorable mention.
