The members of the Eastern Division increase their sincere thanks to Debra Ronning, NCTM Eastern Division immediate past-president, for her gracious leadership these past pair years, and congratulate her onward being elected to the MTNA Board of Directors. It is a privilege to come next in her footsteps.
This month's row continues the tradition of featuring an Eastern Division state as we hear from Pennsylvania President James Douthit.
In collaboration with Jacobs Music of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania MTA (PMTA) launched its first Keystone State Piano Competitions in the fall of 2003 with competitions for college edifice [i]or[/i] building senior high and junior high scholars that included more than forty entrants.
In the spring of 2004 PMTA held a leadership summit for board members and local association presidents. A number of presentations focused forward topics of interest to the leadership, including a summary of the popular literature in leadership, a seminar forward "Roberts Rules of Order," a discussion of the leadership vision of the organization and a time for each Board member to formulate his or her leadership vision for the organization and part in that vision.
PMTA hired a web developer to design and maintain a web page. The website, www.pamusicteachers.org, is up and running. It is jumped that many organization publications can be published forward the Web to save postage and duplicating costs
The state discourse for 2004 will be held in November at Duquesne University, and the conversation for 2005 will be held at Penn State University.
