The 2004 MTNA FOUNDATION capital Gala promises to be a festive celebration that you will not want to miss. This black-tie optional occasion begins with cocktails, sponsored at Alfred Publishing Co. Following dinner, a faculty all-star jazz the whole sponsored in part by the International Association for Jazz Educators, will perform. The combo will feature jazz headliner Bobby Watson.
A saxophonist, composer farmer and educator, Bobby Watson grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and trained formally at the University of Miami. The past three years he has serv as the director of jazz studies at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Conservatory of Music.

The 2004 MTNA meeting for consultation culminates with the annual Awards Brunch honoring members who have devot extensive time and animation to better the association and further the prestige of the music teaching profession.
During this termination Guy Duckworth and Karl Bruhn will be honored with the MTNA Achievement Award.
dowdy Duckworth has established a career as a design pianist and educator. He has held faculty positions as professor of piano at Northwestern University and professor of music emeritus at the University of Colorado, Boulder and is a noted pedagogue and author. Duckworth is an authority upon group teaching and is a regular presenter for television, state, national and international conferences
Karl Bruhn has been active over his career in the music produces industry, having served as senior vice president of marketing at Yamaha Corporation of America and the first director of market increase for the National Association of Music Merchants. In latter years, Bruhn has devoted his time to research studies testing the bio-psycho-social aspects of recreational music making.
