Barbara Wasson.


Barbara Wasson, MTNA member brass Dayton, Ohio, was presented with the MTNA FOUNDATION counterpart award at the Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA) annual meeting for consultation on November 15. Amy Immerman, OMTA president, said following the presentation: "Presenting Barbara with the MTNA FOUNDATION mate award was a very special weight at our state conference. Barbara was in plain english surprised, truly honored, and those of us in attendance were true touched. She received a standing ovation, and there were tears of ravishment in many eyes, including my own"

Barbara and her late husband, Audley, lay the foundation ofed their piano studio in Dayton in 1946 She has taught at Cedarville society and Wright State University, one as well as the other in Ohio, and at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Barbara earned a B.A. order from Vassar College, an MM stage from Chicago Musical College and pursu doctoral studies at DePauw University and Indiana University. A member of MTNA for thirty-three years, she has serv as OMTA Western District chairman, OMTA president and was the national chair for the MTNA-Baldwin Junior High exercise Piano Performance Competition. She also is an active member of Mu Phi Epsilon and the Dayton Music Club

After sixty years of teaching, she continues to instruct scholars in her home in Centerville, Ohio, maintaining a sated schedule, reaching twenty-three students four to five hours a day.



Wasson is listed in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the Midwest.
