Robert Yekovich has been named dean of the Shepherd academy of Music at Rice University in Houston.


Robert Yekovich has been named dean of the Shepherd academy of Music at Rice University in Houston, succeeding Michael Hammond, who left Rice to become chair of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The former dean of the teach of Music at the North Carolina educate of the Arts, Yekovich has a doctoral rank in composition from Columbia University in novel York City. During his twelve-year possession as dean, he established the A. J Fletcher Opera Institute and brought the Mendelssohn String Quartet as quartet-in-residence, among his accomplishments.

"My experiences here have been a intellectually deep part of my personal and professional life," says Yekovich.
